Rebecca - Thicket
Deep money management skills combined with a nuanced and gorgeous approach as a maker.
Rebecca Perea-Kane is behind Thicket, minimal and sustainable jewelry cast from natural objects.
Rebecca (she/they) has run Thicket, a fine jewelry line, for more than ten years. Thicket is fine jewelry made from castings of natural objects using recycled fine metals and is made by hand in Rebecca’s Portland, Maine studio. Over the years Thicket has grown intentionally and now encompasses a bustling e-commerce website, custom offerings, and a tiny brick and mortar retail shop.
Previous to launching Thicket Rebecca worked for a number of independent designers.
In 2020 Rebecca began consulting with other small business owners. Rebecca believes that the project of running a small business in itself - not just the creative practice at the center of it - can be a deeply creative endeavor. They are passionate about demystifying business numbers and framing them in a way that truly empowers you to make better decisions.
Where to find Rebecca:
What Rebecca Coaches On:
Managing money in your small business: everything from pricing, to planning, to making decisions informed by your numbers.
Setting up and running YNAB, a fantastic budgeting software tool, for your business.
Preparing to attend your first wholesale trade show or craft fair.
The logistics of running a product based business.
Plus:
“It’s become more and more clear what is important to me and also what actually needs to happen. Early on in my business I had all these ideas about the things that I thought needed to happen that now I realize don’t matter. A small example of that is business cards. When I was a new business I was like “ I NEED to have business cards!” But you can run a business without business cards.”
